USC boys in hunt for Section golf title
Olson, Bullerman and Hustfeldt are in top 11 on leaderboard
United South Central’s Brennan Olson, shown at left teeing off at a meet held earlier this season, is in second place after the first round of the Section 2A Golf Tournament held at North Links Golf Course. The Rebels’ team is also in second place.
The United South Central boys golf team advanced to Day 2 of the Section 2A Golf Tournament after a stellar performance at Day 1 of the tournament.
The Rebels were in second place at the end of the first day, which was played on Tuesday, May 26, at the North Links Golf Course.
USC’s score of 330 was just two strokes back of the first place team, Sleepy Eye United, who came in with a 328.
The top four teams, and the top five golfers not on those teams, advanced to Day 2 of the tournament which was set for Monday, June 1, back at the North Links Golf Course in North Mankato.
In third after Day 1 was Mountain Lake Area with a score of 345. In fourth was Cedar Mountain with a team score of 349.
The Rebels were led by Brennan Olson who shot a 76 which was good for second place out of the 67 golfers at the Section Tournament. He was just two strokes behind Jeffery Simonson of Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton who was the medalist with a 74.
USC’s Kolt Bullerman carded a 79 and was in fourth place. Colten Husfeldt shot an 85 and was in 11th place to complete the Rebels’ team score.
Other USC golfers were Ryder Anderson who had a 90 and was in 26th place, Octavio Hernandez who had a 97 for 46th place and Jaxon Hart who was in 57th place with a 106.
The scores for the other teams participating in the Section 2A Tournament were Springfield with a 355 for fifth place, Alden-Conger in sixth place with 359, Truman-GHEC-Martin Luther tied for seventh with JWP at 369, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva in ninth at 375, Martin County West 10th with 382 and New Ulm Cathedral 11th place with a score of 401.
