BEA’s Kyannah Brandt was off and running during Section 2A 100-meter dash on May 30.

Blue Earth Area sophomore Kyannah Brandt will be making her first trip to the Minnesota State Track and Field Championships after finishing second in the 100-meter dash at the Section 2A Championships held in Janesville on Saturday, May 30.

Brandt had a time of 12.92 in the prelims to finish with the second- best time heading into the finals.

She lowered her time to 12.77 in the finals to once again finish second and qualify for her trip to State.

Brandt was the only Buccaneer athlete to qualify for the State Track Meet.

Marcus Eckles, the only BEA boy participating at the Section 2A meet, narrowly missed qualifying in the 300-meter low hurdles with a fourth-placed finish after having a time of 43.02.

The Bucs’ 4×100-meter relay team of Cassandra Hagedorn, Amalla Harper, Parker Stallman and Brandt finished in seventh place with a time of 53.5.

Stallman, Harper, Sydney Eitzmann and Brandt were ninth in the 4×200-meter relay when they were disqualified.

The 4×400-meter relay team finished seventh with a time of 4:33.57. The team was made up of Emersen Weir, Amelia Weerts, Sidney Eitzmann and Caitlin Eitzmann.

In the 4×800-meter relay, BEA’s team of Aubrey Woodwick, Weir, Ella Swanson and Caitlin Eitzmann turned in a time of 10:28.52 to finish in fourth place.

Caitlin Eitzmann also competed in the 400-meter dash where she finished 11th with a time of 1:07.11.

Weir and Woodwick competed in the 800-meter run with Weir finishing seventh in 2:31.59 while Woodwick was 12th with a time of 2:39.89.

Taylor Ripley’s toss of 33-08 in the shot put was good for fifth place.

Ada Ziegler had a throw of 89-09 in the discus to finish in 10th place.

Stallman was 13th in the pole vault when she cleared the bar at a height of 7-08.

Brandt’s leap of 15-07.25 in the long jump was good for eighth place.

The State Class A prelims were on Thursday, June 4. The Class A finals were held on Friday, June 5. The Minnesota State Track Meet is held at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
