Pirates defeated by Gators 19-3

A costly third inning sealed the fate for the Blue Earth Pirates when they went on the road to face the Janesville Gators in baseball action on Sunday, June 28.
The Gators erupted for 13 runs in the bottom of the third stanza before adding four more runs in their half of the fifth inning and two more in the sixth inning on their way to a 19-3 victory over the Pirates.
Blue Earth took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Kaylan Legred singled and Brandyn Olsen doubled to put runners on second and third base with one out.
A passed ball allowed Legred to score and Olsen to advance to second base before two fly outs to the Janesville center fielder ended the inning.
The Pirates also scored single runs in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.
Janesville out-hit Blue Earth by an 11-6 margin. Each team committed a number of errors with the Pirates totaling four miscues and the Gators ending up with three.
Logan Jahnke pitched two innings and took the loss. Noah Morphew pitched the third, fourth and fifth innings for the Pirates with Taylor Davids pitching the sixth inning.
Olsen led Blue Earth on offense with two hits.
Blue Earth hosted Eagle Lake on Wednesday, July 1. They play the Morristown Morries at Babe Nordmeier Field in Morristown on July 5, and take on the Windom Pirates on Wednesday, July 8, at Island Park in Windom.
