The United South Central girls tennis team started their season with a quad tournament, facing off against Glencoe-Silver Lake, Blue Earth Area, and Sibley East at Glencoe on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

USC senior Ivy O’Rourke also achieved her 50th career win during the tournament, earning it in her first win of the season during the team’s match against Glencoe-Silver Lake.

GSL 5, USC 2

The USC Rebels put up a good fight, but were overpowered by the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panthers in a 5-2 loss at the quad tournament on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Rebel Ivy O’Rourke defeated Panther Aby Smith in No. 1 singles to achieve her 50th career win, winning 6-1, 6-2.

Elise Hanson lost 6-3, 6-2 to Summer Blacinski in No. 2 singles.

Brooke Huper put up a good fight, but was ultimately defeated by Olesia Dudnyk in No. 3 singles, losing 7-5, 4-6, 7-10.

Ella Schmidtke took an early lead, but lost to Lilah Enriquez in No. 4 singles 2-6, 7-6, 10-7.

Julianna Clore and Kylee Koziolek were defeated by Jodyn Stuewe and Finley Gurrero in No. 1 doubles, losing 6-3, 6-3.

Caitlin Rheingans and Gretchen Bungum lost 6-0, 6-3 to Abby Kaczmarek and Addi Nott in No. 2 doubles.

Tori Stevermer and Lydia Hartman came back from behind to defeat Breckynn Lindeman and Katelyn Metag in No. 3 doubles, winning 3-6, 6-2, 10-2.

BEA 6, USC 1

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers sailed past the Rebels, handing them a 6-1 loss at the quad tournament on Aug. 25.

Rebel Ivy O’Rourke secured the Rebels’ only win against BEA, defeating Buc Abigail Greff in No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-3.

Elise Hanson put up a good fight, but was defeated by Brooklyn Rosenau in No. 2 singles 1-6, 6-1, 10-8.

Brooke Huper lost 6-1, 6-0 to Ella Swanson in No. 3 singles.

Lydia Hartman was defeated by Jessi James in No. 4 singles, losing 6-1, 6-2.

Julianna Clore and Kylee Koziolek were taken down by the sister pair of Elaena and Natalie Schiltz, losing 6-0, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles.

Caitlin Rheingans and Gretchen Bungum fought hard, but just couldn’t overcome Abbey Lorenz and Amaya Mensing-Ristau in No. 2 doubles, losing 7-6, 7-6.

Tori Stevermer and Kinley Koziolek were defeated in No. 3 doubles by Emersen Wier and Emily Schrader, losing 6-4, 6-4.

Sibley East 6, USC 1

The Rebels got scratched by the Sibley East Wolverines, losing to them 6-1 at the quad tournament on Aug. 25.

Rebel Ivy O’Rourke attempted a comeback, but was defeated by Wolverine Macey Thoele in No. 1 singles, losing 7-5, 3-6, 11-9.

Elise Hanson lost to Amelia Odenthal 6-3, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.

Ella Schmidtke fought hard, but was ultimately defeated by Lydia Harmon in No. 3 singles, losing 6-2, 5-6, 12-10.

Tori Stevermer achieved the Rebels’ only win against Sibley East, defeating Josie Wibstad 6-4, 6-1 in No. 4 singles.

Julianna Clore and Gretchen Bungum were defeated by Tessa McCracken and Addie Conrell in No. 1 doubles, losing 6-3, 6-2.

Caitlin Rheingans and Kinly Koziolek lost to Emily Dose and Kylah Olson 6-3, 6-1 in No. 2 doubles.

Claire Schimek and Madison Meyer were taken down by Aynslee Helloust and Cady Perschou in No. 3 doubles, losing 6-2, 6-2.

The Rebels had home court advantage during their next meet, taking on River Valley at home on Thursday, Aug. 27. Look for these results and more in a future edition of the Register.
