Some surprises in the Primary Election

Both Democrat and Republican voters in the Primary Election in Faribault County sometimes went with the rest of the state in choosing candidates for the Nov. 3 election, but both party voters in the county sometimes did not. Here is a rundown on how Faribault County voted in the Aug. 11 Primary Election. For the U.S. Senate seat the Republicans of Faribault County went with the other voters in the state to select Michele Tafoya to be their candidate. There were nine candidates to choose from and Tafoya received 916 votes in the county. In second was Adam Schwarze with 523 votes. For the Democrats, their chose for Senator candidate did not follow the entire state. Faribault County Democrats picked Angie Craig with 644 votes, while Peggy Flanagan, who won the state vote, received 532 votes. There were six total candidates.
