Foster Trucking’s building in Winnebago was a total loss by the end of the day on June 20.

A fire in Winnebago last Tuesday afternoon completely destroyed a business building.

The fire was called in at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, and was located at 835 Main Street South in Winnebago. It was the location of Foster Trucking, on the south edge of Winnebago.

“We got the call at 2:15 in the afternoon and we were there until 7:30 that night,” Winnebago fire chief Jesse Haugh says. “Then we were called back out at 9:30 that night, for about another hour, for a rekindle of the fire.”

Haugh says the building was a total loss. However, he adds that there were no injuries.

“Both the owner, Scott Foster, and his son were out in the trucks, hauling hogs, so they were not at the location when the fire happened,” Haugh says. “But the building and everything inside is a total loss, 100 percent.”

The Winnebago Fire Department was assisted by the Blue Earth, Delavan, Easton and Amboy Fire Departments, the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office and the Winnebago Ambulance Service.

The State Fire Marshall is investigating the fire.

“This is a really bad deal,” Haugh says. “Fires are never good, but this one was devastating for the business. Hopefully they will be able to rebuild.”
