BEA girls finish seventh at True Team
Track teams also competed in the Sentinel Relays in Fairmont

The Blue Earth Area track teams competed in the Section 2A True Team Track meet held at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton High School on Tuesday, May 5.
Girls Results
The 14-team meet saw St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran win the championship with 719 points. Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton/Waterville-Elysian-Morristown was second with 707.5 points, Minnesota Valley Lutheran finished third with 702.5, Loyola-Cleveland-MCA was fourth with 602, Sibley East came in fifth with 576.5, Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet placed sixth with 535.5 and BEA was seventh with 497.5.
River Valley was eighth with 477.5 points, Jackson County Central took ninth with 456.5, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva placed 10th with 433.5, Maple River was 11th with 416.5, United South Central had 349 to finish 12th, Medford was 13th with 189.5 and Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther was 14th with 169.
Top BEA performances from the meet included Kyannah Brandt finishing eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.5.
Emersen Weir was sixth in the 800-meter run with a time pf 2:37.89.
BEA’s 4×100-meter relay team of Breanna Hefner-Roggeman, Amalla Harper, Parker Stallman and Grace Nelson had a time of 54.83 to finish in fifth place.
The 4×200-meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 1:59.38. Members of the team were Cassandra Hagedorn, Harper, Sidney Eitzmann and Nelson.
In the 4×400-meter relay, Weir, Amelia Weerts, Sidney Eitzmann and Caitlin Eitzmann had a time of 4:32.71 to finish in sixth place.
Aubrey Woodwick, Weir, Ella Swanson and Caitlin Eitzmann finished third in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 10:40.68.
Taylor Ripley was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 30-1.
Ripley finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 86-4 and Ada Ziegler was seventh with a mark of 85-5.
Boys Results
Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet was the champions for the boys with 729 points followed by Maple River in second with 705.5, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton/Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in third with 676, St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran in fourth with 586 and Minnesota Valley Lutheran in fifth with 577.5.
Loyola-Cleveland-MCA was sixth with 555.5, United South Central placed seventh with 522.5, Sibley East finished eighth with 514.5, River Valley was ninth with 526, Jackson County Central placed 10th with 349.5, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva was 11th with 348.5, Blue Earth Area was 12th with 296, Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther finished 13th with 261.5 and Medford was 14th with 252.
Marcus Eckles was the top performer for the BEA boys at the Section 2A True Team Track Meet. The senior hurdler came in fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.38 and fourth in the 300-meter low hurdles in 43.95.
Sentinel Relays
The Blue Earth Area track teams competed in the Sentinel Relays held in Fairmont on Friday, May 1. There were two classes of competition – Class AA for the larger schools and Class A for the smaller schools. The Bucs competed in Class A.
Girls Results
Fairmont won the Class AA girls championship with 194 points while St. James-Madelia was the runner-up with 101 in the eight-team competition.
River Valley placed third with 100.5 points, Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet was fourth with 95, Jackson County Central finished fifth with 69, BEA placed sixth with 66.5, Hutchinson was seventh with 55 and Minneapolis North Community finished eighth with 11.
The Bucs had a number of fine performances at the meet.
Aubrey Woodwick ran to a second-place finish in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:09.18.
The Bucs also had a second-place finish in the 1600 sprint-medley relay which is comprised of two 200-meter legs, a 400-meter leg and an 800-meter leg.
Kyannah Brandt and Sidney Eitzmann each ran 200 meters, Caitlin Eitzmann ran the 400-meter part of the race and Emersen Weir covered the final 800 meters. BEA’s second-place time was 4:37.8.
In the 100-meter dash, Brandt crossed the finish line in 13.33 to finish in fifth place.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Breanna Hefner-Roggeman, Grace Nelson, Parker Stallman and Brandt finished third with a time of 54.52.
It was a fourth-place finish for the 4×200-meter relay team of Cassandra Hagedorn, Stallman, Mary Dohm and Nelson. Their time was 1:57.89.
The Bucs also finished fourth in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:32.25. Running the relay for BEA were Weir, Woodwick, Sidney Eitzmann and Caitlin Eitzmann.
Taylor Ripley placed fifth in both the shot put and the discus. Her toss in the shot put traveled 29-1 while her throw in the discus was 90-4.
Caitlin Eitzmann placed fourth in the high jump with a personal-best mark of 4-11. She was one of four girls to successfully clear the bar at that height but placed fourth based on total misses.
Parker Stallman was fifth in the pole vault when she cleared the bar at 7-6.
Brandt was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 15-6.5.
Sidney Eitzmann’s mark of 29-2.75 in the triple jump put her in sixth place.
Boys results
Seven teams competed in the Class AA boys division with Fairmont coming out on top with 177.5 points and Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet finishing second with 119.
River Valley placed third with 103 points, St. James-Madelia was fourth with 97.5, Minneapolis North Community placed fifth with 86, Jackson County Central was sixth with 60 and BEA was seventh with 43.
Marcus Eckles led the Bucs with a second-place showing in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.02.
Eckles was third in the 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 42.93.
Eckles, Gus Ankeny, Hayden Prestegard and Caden Juba teamed up to place fourth in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 48.87.
Prestegard, Simon Holland, Oliver Ankeny and Gus Ankeny were fifth in the 4×400-meter relay in 4:07.1.
In the 4×800-meter relay, Oliver Ankeny, Camden Murphy, Ben Roper and Hudson Prestegard recorded a time of 10:19.04 to finish in sixth place.
The sprint-medley relay team of Henry Survis, Travis Moore, Murphey and Hudson Prestegard place sixth with a time of 4:47.17.
Juba had a good showing in the long jump where his leap of 19-0 was a personal-best that put him in third place.
