Rebel tennis team picks up two wins

Defeats Austin and Worthington but loses to Le Sueur – Henderson

The United South Central Rebels had a busy week of tennis, taking on both Austin and Worthington at a home triangular tournament on Saturday, Sept. 6 before traveling to face off against Le Sueur-Henderson in Le Sueur on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

USC 6, Austin 1

The Rebels sent the Austin Packers packing, winning 6-1 at their home tournament on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Rebel Ivy O’Rourke struggled to hang on, but ultimately defeated Packer Yazmine Huerta in No. 1 singles, winning 3-6, 6-1, 1-0.

Olivia Bungum defeated Sophia Meyer in No. 2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1.

Caitlin Rheingans was defeated by Gisele Hinks in No. 3 singles, losing 1-6, 6-1, 1-0.

Brooke Huper defeated Lucy Annis in No. 4 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0.

Julianna Clore and Kylee Koziolek defeated Kayla Ball and Isabelle Owens in No. 1 doubles, winning 7-6, 5-7, 1-0.

Elise Hanson and Gretchen Bungum defeated Lydia Marasa and Megan Grush in No. 2 doubles, winning 6-3, 6-4.

Claire Schimek and Tori Stevermer defeated Danica Helle and Eve Snater in No. 3 doubles, winning 6-2, 6-4.

USC 5, Worthington 2

The Rebels had a tight match, but held on to defeat the Worthington Trojans 5-2 at their home tournament on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Rebel Olivia Bungum defeated Trojan Lily Brown in No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-3.

Caitlin Rheingans was defeated by Kah Blu Moo in No. 2 singles, losing 6-4, 7-6.

Gretchen Bungum was defeated by Madison Poe in No. 3 singles, losing 6-3, 6-1.

Brooke Huper defeated Ashley Esparza in No. 4 singles, winning 6-1, 6-3.

Ivy O’Rourke and Elise Hanson defeated Cassie Schulz and Angie Dailey in No. 1 doubles, winning 6-0, 6-1.

Julianna Clore and Kylee Koziolek defeated Isabella Kouame and LweKaPaw Ehmu in No. 2 doubles, winning 6-0, 6-2.

Claire Schimek and Tori Stevermer held on to defeat Claire Schultz and Isabella Poe in No. 3 doubles, winning 2-6, 6-3, 1-0.

LSH 5, USC 2

The Le Sueur – Henderson Giants brought the hurt to the Rebels, defeating them 5-2 at their away meet in Le Sueur on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Rebel Ivy O’Rourke defeated Giant Sallie Nesbit in No. 1 singles, winning 6-3, 6-4.

Olivia Bungum overcame an early loss to defeat Addison Fahey in No. 2 singles, winning 0-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Brooke Huper was defeated by Libby Genelin in No. 3 singles, losing 6-3, 6-3.

Madison Meyer was defeated by Maura Krause in No. 4 singles, losing 6-0, 6-1.

Elise Hanson and Caitlin Rheingans were defeated by Carlin Straub and Teagan Graham in No. 1 doubles, losing 5-7, 6-0, 6-0.

Julianna Clore and Gretchen Bungum were defeated by Ava Becker and Kiandra Straub in No. 2 doubles, losing 6-1, 6-4.

Claire Schimek and Tori Stevermer were defeated by Alice Breaker and Sophie Tews in No. 3 doubles, losing 6-1, 6-1.
